Associazione Sportiva Roma (AS Roma) started life in 1927, July 22nd. The Roma badge is of the Capitoline she.wolf suckling twins. The symbol of Rome. The official colours are the same as the city of Rome. Red for imperial dignity, and gold which represents the Pope or God.

In 1927, Rome had numerous clubs in the Italian league. S.S Alba-Audace, Fortitudo-Pro Roma S.G.S, Roman F.C and S.S Lazio. In that time, the facist goverment that was in control of Italy and wanted a strong Capital club, so it could rival the much stronger northern Italian clubs. The facist regime wanted to merge the Capital clubs together to create a strong image of Rome. However this was declined by Lazio, but Alba-Audace, Fortitudo-Pro Roma and Roman did merge into AS Roma. As Roma was named after the city and were to wear tradiotional Roman colurs.

AS Roma took part in their first national league in the 1929-30 season . AS Roma won their first Scudetto in 1941-42 season. AS Roma were relegated only once, at the end of the 1950-51 season, returning to Serie A the next season.

After returning to the top flight of Italian football in 1952, Roma in the next 20 years had a pretty average time. Never really getting higher then mid-table. The best Roma could manage was a 3rd place finish in 1974-75 season.

However in the mid 1970s and 1980s Roma had some of its most glourious times. Roma narrowly missed out on their 2nd Scudetto in 1981 (very controversially against Juventus on the last day of the season) Roma would however win their 2nd Scudetto in 1983-84 season. Reaching the Champions League final the next season, only to lose out to Liverpool on Penalties.

Roma was since mostly always in top half of the League and claimed their 3rd Scudetto in 2001, a 3 - 1 victory over Parma on the last day of the season.

AS Roma finished 2nd in Serie A in 2005-06 , due to the Italian football scandal.
While finishing runners-up in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 season. However this was followed up by two Coppa Italia trophies in 2 years. Rosella Sensi took over as President in 2008 after the death of her much loved father, Franco Sensi.
